Meet The Muse

“As a vocal artist I would have to recommend Elizabeth very highly. She has the unique ability to sing different styles of music. She can sing jazz with the heart and soul of a true artist.” ~Beverly Kane Baker, Virginia Symphony Orchestra

ELIZABETH JOY TERRELL is a powerhouse vocalist based in Norfolk, VA. She is known for her commanding voice and stage presence, and has graced many stages as a solo artist, with the folk pop duo Twenty South, gospel group Michael M. Smith & Friends, jazz duo "Liz & Roy", and various combos with the band, Modern Muse. Some of her favorite venues include Town Center in Virginia Beach, Beachstreet USA, The Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, The CaRue Festival (a prelude to the Richmond Jazz Festival), and The Winter Blues Jazz Festival in Williamsburg. Since their opening in 2014, Elizabeth has been a prominently featured performer at Gershwin's restaurant in Norfolk.

"Liz is a consummate professional. Our patrons continue to praise her. She has been a positive influence to our early success." ~Jim Manning, Owner of Gershwin's

GROWING UP, Elizabeth's musical background was greatly influenced by a wide variety of genres ranging from gospel, jazz, and rock to swing, blues, and showtunes. She has created her unique sound by incorporating these different styles into her performances. Throughout the course of one song she can sweetly croon and in one moment switch to an emotional, throaty belt taking you on a journey you will not likely forget.

AS A SONGWRITER, Elizabeth released her first EP "Conversations" in October of 2017. The 5-song project is a brilliant compilation of both originals and covers that perfectly highlights Elizabeth's unique blend of soul and jazz. She also released a holiday album in December of 2017 with Roy George. "A Christmas In Black And White" exclusively features the esteemed duo (known publicly as "Liz & Roy") and their arrangements of favorite holiday songs.

"I want my voice and lyrics to command attention and connect with people on a raw emotional level. Music has helped me heal in the worst of times, and given my deepest thoughts and feelings a way out. I want to share the gift music has been to me."

With her rich, soulful sound and deep emotional range, that's exactly what she does
